Description: Mount Bisbino is located over Cernobbio and you can climb its slopes thanks to an evocative mountain road that from the shores of Lario will lead you until the top of the mount, at an height of 1325 m AMSL. The arrival point offers you one of the most spectacular view of our zone, spacing from the Como Lake to the Pianura Padana and the mountains of the near Switzerland, whose borders are only few kilometers away from the summit. In the days particularly clear it is even possible to see the Appennini Mountains and the Mount Monviso. This tour is also particular because, contrarily of the others, the outward journey and the return coincide. The climb, approximately 16 km long, has an extremely constant, with a medium value of about 7.1%. The beginning of the climb runs among the houses of Cernobbio, then the constructions leave more and more space to the green, and you will find only some agglomerate of houses every now and then. In the last kilometers of climb you'll enter a forest of conifers. On the top of Mount Bisbino you'll find an ancient Sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna, a weather station and a restaurant. Road book: At the beginning of the proposed tour you have to head for the Segrino Lake (southwards), and you have to go along the shores of it until his ending. When you reach the crossroads you have to continue on the main road that leads to Erba. When you'll arrive in the city it is necessary to proceed towards Como. We advise you to take “the old” road, that passes through the towns of Albavilla, Albese con Cassano (place of birth of Fabio Casartelli, the cyclist tragically famous for his death on the Tour of France ways), Tavernerio and Camnago Volta (where is situated Alexander Volta’s grave). In this way you will ride your bike without too many worries for the automotive traffic. Once you’arrive at the end of Via Valassina in Erba, it is necessary to turn on the right and take the main way of the city ( XXV Aprile street), crossing the Lambro river over the Bridge called “Malpensata” and crossing the railroads of the Milano - Asso Railroad. You have to go on as far as the ending of XXV April street and there you’ll find a roundabout, near the Monument to the Fallen in War. There it is necessary to turn on the left and to pass through the hamlet called “Crevenna” (through a only sense alternated) and following the indications for Albavilla. After the Castle of Pomerio, it is necessary to go on the main road until reaching two traffic lights, separates from a turn rightwards. The first traffic light, in proximity of a petrol station, has to be passed going on the main road, while at the second one it is necessary to turn on the left, following the indications for Albese, Tavernerio, Como. From this point it is necessary to keep follow the main road that, alternating plain and little climb will lead you to the hamlet of Tavernerio called Solzago, where the descent to the city of Como begins. There it is necessary to run along the evocative lake-front and to cover it completely. After the Sinigallia Stadium you’ll arrive to a roundabout where it is necessary to turn on the right, following the indications for Cernobbio, Argegno, Menaggio. From this point it is necessary to always follow the road that runs along the beautiful shores of Como Lake. Before entering in Cernobbio you will enter a large roundabout and you have to go on without turning on the left, following the indications for the center of the Cernobbio. When you’ll arrive in the center of Cernobbio, you will find a set of roundabout and you will have to turn on the left in the one where on the right is placed a lane reserved to the buses stop, taking for the street called “Via della Libertà”. This street, after few meters, will carry you to the beginning of the climb to Mount Bisbino, passing on the side of a parking site. Unfortunately in Cernobbio the indications for Mount Bisbino are not indicated very well. Keep in mind that if you arrive to the traffic light you have gone too much beyond. However, once you take the right street in Cernobbio, there will be no more possibility of mistakes, it will be enough to follow the climb (that takes the name of “Via per Bisbino”). For the return it is necessary to cover in the opposite direction the same roads of the outward journey. Remember that the descent you ran along before, in order to reach Como from Tavernerio, has to be faced also in the opposite direction! |
